[c]Welcome to PlumeZap.com[/c][f] PlumeZap is a new way to share and read long texts using a desktop or mobile web browser.  This introduction is itself a PlumeZap text.  The simplest way to continue reading a text is to click on the next page button > at the bottom of the screen.[/f] [c]What's Different?[/c][f] PlumeZap does not use traditional pages or page numbers. Instead, each text view displays its first and last [i]word[/i] numbers. This allows for extremely flexible navigation within texts.

It is possible to share a link directly to a precise word within any PlumeZap text.  Links may be formatted as follows:
 
PLUMEZAP.COM?4 - This link will open text 4.

PLUMEZAP.COM?4#6995 - This link will open text 4, starting at word number 6995.

PLUMEZAP.COM?4#c6 - This link will open text 4, starting at chapter 6.[/f] [c]Basic navigation[/c][f] In addition to the next and previous page buttons you can swipe the text as if turning a page forward or back. An up or down swipe will also work.  The existing page will fade out to show the new page. If you resize your browser window at any time, or change phone orientation, the interface will resize itself, with the text reflowing, starting from the current start word.

To show a list of chapters, click on the title area at the top of the screen.

PlumeZap also has a selection of controls, accessed by clicking the VIEW CONTROLS link at the bottom of the interface, and detailed HELP links are provided throughout.[/f] [c]Finding Something To Read[/c][f] To find texts on PlumeZap, click on VIEW CONTROLS > FIND RANDOM TEXTS TO READ.  This button leads to a selection of random public texts.  Click MORE to show a new selection of random texts.

It is also possible to filter the search for texts by clicking on the FILTER SEARCH button and selecting TITLE, AUTHOR, ORDER and LENGTH. More detailed information is provided via the HELP link in the Random Texts view.[/f] [c]Creating and Editing Texts[/c][f] It's easy to add your own texts to PlumeZap, for private or public viewing.  Click on VIEW CONTROLS > CREATE TEXT.

There are three steps to creating texts:

STEP 1 - Enter TITLE, AUTHOR and CONTENT.

STEP 2 - Choose to make the text PUBLIC or PRIVATE.

STEP 3 - Enter your EMAIL ADDRESS and PASSWORD.

Editing an existing text follows the same process, starting from VIEW CONTROLS > EDIT TEXT. More detailed information is provided via the HELP link in the text editing view.[/f] [c]Advertising[/c][f] No advertising is displayed in the normal reading view in PlumeZap.  In all other views (the chapter list and controls views) a small PlumeZap banner is currently shown. The intention in future is to use this area alone for funding purposes.

If you would like to place any content in the banner space, please email us at advertising@plumezap.com.  Banner sizes are: [i]width 468px x height 60px[/i] and [i]width 234px x height 60px[/i].  The larger size is used by default; the smaller size in narrower screens.[/f]
